About Us
Who are we?
The Cyprus Association for the Protection and Care of Animals, [CAPCA] better known as PAWS, is a registered charitable association providing care and rehabilitation for abandoned, rescued and abused dogs in the Paphos area. We believe passionately that every dog should enjoy the best possible life.
Our Vision
A world where all pets, and (in our case) particularly dogs, are well cared for in loving and safe homes for life.
Our Mission
To ensure that every dog coming into our shelter receives the best possible care and treatment so they can have the start of a better life. To promote good animal welfare and responsible pet ownership, we provide guidance and we work with the community in Cyprus and overseas to rehabilitate and rehome dogs to the right home. We champion and support vulnerable dogs, and aim to create lasting change for animals who have been in our care.

Outside and inside the compound many trees provide a windbreak, shade and help absorb noise. They also create a happier environment.
At the centre of the complex is the dog kitchen. Here all foodstuffs are stored, prepared, and distributed to each section.
Connected to the kitchen are long service corridors containing single sections, e.g Puppies, New Dogs, Clinic, to ease integration.
Each corridor contains individual pens, which have a walled room for privacy and a wire perimeter to allow the dogs to socialise and for company.
Most pens adjoin a large gravelled area, most with trees, foliage and a gazebo for shade and relaxation. Many sections are given a paddling pool in the hot weather.
Finally, there’s our staff area where volunteers can take a break, socialise and enjoy a drink and snack.
Wanting to visit?
You can visit us any morning between 7am & 11am. Dog walking is 7am – 9am every morning. If you wish to speak to a member of staff, it is advisable to call first and make an appointment so that we can have someone available.
Location
We are open to visitors from 7am to 11:00am daily. We are located in Acheleia, just off Exit 46 of the Paphos to Limassol motorway (A6).
