Alfie
Description
DoB: May 2022
M/F: Male
Breed: Hound
Admitted: May 2024
Alfie was found on a beach along with another dog. They were both in very bad condition - emaciated and dehydrated with scars and missing fur on their bodies - and probably wouldn't have been able to survive much longer on their own. Even after a few months in the shelter they are still underweight to the point that you can clearly see their spine and ribs. Wherever they came from was not a good place because they both suffered total neglect.
For all his poor condition and lack of weight, Alfie is a very lively boy who, as dictated by his breed (and probable former use), is oriented towards hunting. But, like the majority of hounds, he is also very affectionate and loves human company. He is a dog that will enjoy being kept busy whether it be playing, long walks or (possibly) toys. He appears to be an intelligent dog who will do well with people who are understanding of his ways but are able to handle and train him with kindness and consistency. Like most hounds he will grow to be a great family dog.
Alfie is a diamond in the rough; could you be the person to smooth those edges with kindness, consistency and love? If you think you are then please email colleenatpaws@outlook.com for more information, or send PAWS a private Facebook message (please include your email address in the message), or come to the shelter to meet ALFIE.
