Clark was left tied to the shelter gate long with another dog. Both are 'hunting' hounds and it is anyone's guess as to why they were left there. Past their usefulness? Left behind after the hunt, found and brought to PAWS by a well-meaning person? Getting to a point where they may cost money for vet bills? Simply surplus to requirement? Who knows except their previous owner. What we do know is that Clark is now safe with us and looking for a home.
He has settled into shelter life after a wary start. He didn't seem to recognise that there are kind people in this world and he was reticent to be touched at first. That has now passed and he is happy to be around people once he gets to know them - strangers still need a little time but not too long if they are calm and don't push him.
Clark has tested positive for Leishmania, which is being controlled by his daily meds. Whilst Leishmania is a lifelong illness it is not life-limiting. Regular blood tests make sure that his medication can be adjusted if necessary.
Clark will make a super companion once he realises that his home is permanent and he has people who love him. If you would like more information about Clark, about Leishmania or adopting a dog from PAWS, please send us a private Facebook message (please include your email address in your message), email colleenatpaws@outlook.com or come to the shelter to meet him.
