Adoption and
Fostering

Adoption

All of the dogs offered at PAWS for adoption have been assessed as being of good temperament and most are used to mixing with other dogs. They’ve also had interaction with the staff and volunteers. Some may naturally be a little shy at first, but that’s possibly down to their background before arriving at PAWS.

Each dog is regularly wormed, vaccinated and dogs are routinely neutered whilst in our care. As children and cats do not normally frequent the Shelter, we cannot reliably advise as to how our dogs will get along with them.

Fostering

Fostering is ideal for people who’d normally be unable to keep a pet due to other commitments. If you have experience with animals and feel that you could offer a temporary home to a dog or puppy, please get in touch. Fostering rehabilitates dogs into a home environment and provides a puppy with the ideal start to developing social skills. It also frees up space at the Shelter for those in need of more urgent care.

Fostering is sometimes not suitable for families with young children and or homes with other dogs or animals.

Microchipping

Before dogs leave the Shelter they must be microchipped and, if the dog is being adopted in Cyprus, that chip must be registered with the Government Vet who will then provide the owner with a Certificate of Dog Registration. If the dog is being adopted outside Cyprus, the microchip has to be registered with the relevant authorities in the destination country. The process of microchipping and registration is a legal requirement plus it enables lost dogs to be reunited with owners. If you already have a dog that’s not microchipped contact your local vet who will carry this procedure out, allowing you to register the dog centrally with the Government Vet.
