We would like to introduce you to TERRY.

He was left at the shelter gates overnight and found one Sunday morning. Poor little fella had no idea why he had been abandoned there but was happy to see us and to come into the shelter with us.We can't be sure, but we think that Terry is about 4 years old and, judging by the mark around his neck, it looks very much as though he has been kept on a chain or rope for much of that time. What a life for a lovely little soul!

Some of his reactions to people suggested that he probably hadn't had much of a good relationship with people. We soon found out just how bad it had been. We noticed that his posture and movements were not quite right. On close examination he yelped with pain but, amazingly, still pressed close for love and affection.

It was difficult for us to say exactly where the pain was and, of course, poor little Terry couldn't tell us. So it was decided that an immediate visit to the vet was necessary. X-rays showed that Terry not only has a fracture in the cervical spine, but he is also suffering from a dislocation. ... which makes it all the more difficult. According to the vet, the injury is most likely caused by blunt force trauma, i.e. he was hit with some weapon - hard, and not by a car accident.

He now needs a costly CT scan to ascertain exactly what, if anything, can be done for him. He may need surgery; it may not be possible. As yet we don't know.

Terry must be in a lot of pain, but he doesn't like to show it. He is a ray of sunshine who deserves the best we can give him to try and make up for what he has suffered in life thus far.
