Lew
Description
DoB: December 2019
M/F: Male
Breed: Pointer X
Admitted: October 2021
Lew came to the shelter with another dog, Lea. They were brought to us by a gentleman who we think was the owner but since neither dog had a microchip we had to accept that they were found on the streets as strays.
Lea and Lew were both incredibly nervous and unfortunately Lew still is and will bark aggressively at strangers. Having said that, he is not an aggressive dog, he is simply afraid and barks to warn people not to come too close. Lew will now walk on the lead just so long that Lea is by his side.
We are doing our best to show Lew love and affection, but it can be difficult to get close enough to do this. Given time, we feel that Lew will mellow and realise that people are no longer things to be afraid of. We can only take a guess at what he has been through to make him like this.
Like his friend Lea, playing is alien to him and he isn’t food orientated so any training will take time... but it IS possible.
Might you be the caring, understanding people that he needs who can show him that he can trust people. If you think you are then please email colleenatpaws@outlook.com for more information, or send PAWS a private Facebook message (please include your email address in the message), or come to the shelter to meet LEW.
