Lisa

Lisa

Description

Name: LISA-2
M/F: Female
DoB: May 2022
Adult size: Medium
Admitted to PAWS: June 2023
Lisa was found on a farm in the most appalling condition. She was so bad she could barely stand... and only a year old!
Her rescuer took her to the vet where she was blood tested (which showed her to be positive to Leishmania) and given treatment this and for various infections and anaemia. She was declared to be around 6kg underweight.
Her rescuer persisted and eventually got permission from her owner to take her and find her a new home. She was fostered for 4 weeks until she was well enough to come to (and there was space in) PAWS.
Lisa is an absolute delight. In spite of the treatment she received at the hands of her original owner, she loves people. She is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs ever encountered. At the moment she spends much of her day laying on a cushion because standing and walking are still a little difficult for her due to a problem with the lower joint on one of her front legs. However, when someone approaches the pen door she is up as fast as she is able and waiting to welcome them. When we go into her pen she lays down, rolls over and almost demands that you pet her. When you stop, her paw goes out to nudge your arm to ask for more.
How a dog can maintain faith in people when it has been treated so badly is unfathomable.
Whoever adopts Lisa will never regret it. She will probably never be able to run fast or walk a long way but she will steadfastly be by your side, your companion for life.
