Martini was found as a stray with part of a large branch sticking through her leg. Quite how it got there is a mystery because to look at it was totally improbable. Anyway, the vet operated immediately to remove the branch and, thankfully, there is no lasting damage and she has recovered well.
Please don't let the photos fool you; what you see is a dog who was not happy to have her photograph taken. The fearful expression you see in the photos is NOT Martini. In real life she is a happy, friendly, affectionate girl who almost smiles at you when you enter her pen. Wherever she was before has been pushed from her mind because she has settled in at the shelter very well. She loves her cuddles and will nudge you into action should you appear to have forgotten to pet her or she thinks there should be more.
She can be sometimes be a little cautious if you move your hands too fast towards her - suggesting that not everyone has been kind to her in the past. She loves to be with people and to go for a walk. As (likely as not) am ex-hunting dog, Martini will never have lived in a house or been taught anything but she is eager to please and should learn quickly.
If you could give MARTINI the love and affection that she craves and deserves, please email colleenatpaws@outlook.com, or send PAWS a private Facebook message (please include your email address in the message), or come to the shelter to meet her.
