Masha is an elderly girl. She was probably used for hunting until she just couldn't keep up with the others any longer and so was of no use to her owner. Now Masha is actually one of the lucky ones; she wasn't abandoned in the middle of nowhere to fend for herself until she died, instead she was left tied to the shelter gates one night.
Poor girl was in bad physical shape when we found her - definitely showing the signs of years kept in a cage and, latterly, having to defend herself amongst the younger dogs and fight to get her food. With TLC she has now recovered well and is looking good. Of course, being older, she has some of the ailments that come to all of us with age; added to that she has also tested positive for Leishmaniasis. It has to be said though that she doesn't let these trifling things bother her much. She is full of life, loves her food, and loves having people around.
Leishmaniasis is well controlled and Masha could definitely still have quite a few years ahead of her. We are sure that she would love to spend those years living in the comfort of a home with people of her own that she could love and who would love her.
