DoB: August 2022
Adult size: Medium
Admitted to PAWS: August 2022

Missouri is one of 8 puppies born to Hattie, a street dog who we have been to catch for years - with no success.  The puppies were born in a cave at the bottom of a ravine. Once we found them, we decided it best to get them to safety rather than wait until they were old enough to run around the roads and get killed (as happened with pups from previous litters). The next few weeks they were in a foster home and causing mayhem! 8 puppies chasing around and needing to be fed and cleaned up after is quite something. How Hattie managed it with such composure amazes us.

They have now been in the shelter since October 2022 and are still running amok. Anyone approaching be mindful of your shoes, trousers, shoelaces, anything chewable. For all their naughtiness, they are typically active, cheeky, funny little creatures who really need to find their forever homes.

Missouri thought he had found the perfect home, but it wasn't to be.  Perhaps his new family weren't expecting him to behave like a typical puppy who knew nothing and needed teaching things. He likes to greet people and other dogs enthusiastically when out on walks. He is totally gung-ho and thinks everyone likes him to try and get close. When told in a firm voice 'No' every time he even begins to do that, he responds well. He might also bark when someone enters his house - he is warning everyone that someone has arrived. Again, a firm voice command does the trick.  Anyone thinking of adopting a puppy - please be aware that training is involved and it will take lots of repetition and positive reinforcement to teach the puppy what is and isn't acceptable behaviour.

If you are interested in MISSOURI and willing to put in the time and patience required to train him, then you will be rewarded with a fantastic family companion. Please email colleenatpaws@outlook.com, or send PAWS a private Facebook message (please include your email address in the message), or come to the shelter to meet him.
