Mozart is a handsome dog. He still has some issues with trusting strangers but we are working on them. He needs to feel 100% secure with a person before he can put his natural defence mechanism aside. Nervousness seems to rub off on him and the shelter environment doesn't help much because it stresses him.  He likes calm and confident people who are happy to approach him without showing any fear or nerves. Once he trusts someone he is great with them and is happy for them to pet him and play with him. He listens to and, generally, obeys their commands and is very willing and able to learn. He is happy to be alongside someone he likes and trusts.

We feel that he has probably had some bad experiences with people in his past life that have made him like he is.  He can get on with other dogs but needs some supervision because he can be a bit rough; but with dogs that are his match he will be great.

Mozart needs someone with experience of dogs, who can gain his trust and handle his temperament. He is unlikely to ever be a cuddly lap dog but he will make a loyal companion that will defend his owner. It may take some time, patience and training to get him to this stage - but it will be worth it.
