Hooch

Description

Name: HOOCH
M/F: Male
DoB: August 2023
Adult size: Large
Admitted to PAWS: August 2025

Hooch’s story is a sad one, but one in which hope shines through. He was left tied up at the shelter gate, just abandoned to his fate. He was emaciated and dirty with sores on his poor wrecked body. Whoever left him obviously had no heart to have let him get into this state. It was probably the luckiest day in Hooch’s life when he was unceremoniously abandoned because now he has a chance.
We can’t really say how old he is. He looks quite old, but now that he is regaining his health and putting on weight, he bounces around like a youngster. Perhaps he is young, or perhaps it is just his joy at feeling better and being with people who actually care for him that has put the joy into his life.
Hooch’s health was poor to say the least. He tested positive for leishmaniasis, ehrlichiosis, and anaplasmosis. Thankfully, he is improving by the day with the medication he is receiving and the proper food he needs. Going forward, there will probably be only his Leishmania to treat. Although a lifelong illness, this can be kept pretty much under control with daily medication and the proper food.
His life has been pretty dreadful so far, but despite this, Hooch is a friendly, outgoing, and affectionate boy who absolutely loves to be around people. He has so much love to give and would love a family of his own to share that love with.
If you are interested in adopting handsome Hooch, we would be happy to share more information about Leishmania with you.
