Shep’s story Pt 1:
Shep’s journey began with a heartbreaking call about a dying dog in desperate need of help. When we arrived, Shep lay in appalling condition, clearly neglected and suffering from Leishmaniasis. At first glance, he seemed to be on the brink of death, little more than a skeleton, and it looked as if the only option might be to put him out of his misery. Despite this grim outlook, we rushed him to the vet for tests to assess the damage to his organs. To our surprise, the results showed that his organs were still functioning well; he was just in a miserable state. It was clear to us that he deserved a chance at life.
Over the following days, Shep slowly began to trust us. He realised he was safe and surrounded by people who wanted to help him. As he gained confidence, his transformation was nothing short of miraculous. He went from a dying dog to a strong, handsome chap, thriving under the right medication, food, and care. Only his blood test showed the disease, not his body.
Shep’s story Pt 2:
Shep gained more and more trust in people and became totally happy with everyone; all he needed was a loving family to provide the affection and attention he had been missing. Then, Shep’s life took another positive turn. A couple came to the shelter, fell in love with him, and decided to adopt not only Shep but also a young Rottweiler puppy for companionship. For probably the first time in his life, Shep found a home and experienced the warmth of family.
Shep’s story Pt 3:
Fast forward 6 months and the unthinkable happened – Shep and his puppy friend Demi were returned to the shelter. This was not due to any fault of their own but rather the circumstances and choices of people. The precise reasons for their return were unclear, muddled by various accounts, but one thing was certain: Shep was confused and stressed, unable to comprehend why he was back in a shelter after finally tasting love and security.
Now, Shep is in urgent need of another chance. He requires a calm and patient environment, as loud voices and chaos seem to alarm him. He is a big, strong, and handsome dog who thrives on human companionship. He loves nothing more than going for walks, is great on the lead, and has picked up some basic commands. Despite the challenges he’s faced, Shep remains a wonderful dog with a big heart, simply longing for the right family to adopt him and love him unconditionally. If only someone could make Shep’s dream come true and give him the loving home he deserves.
