Description
Name: TORRO

Adult size: Large
Admitted to PAWS: August 2021
Shoulder height: approx. 52 cm
Height to head: approx. 62 cm
Length: approx. 85 cm
Torro has been at the shelter far longer than is good for him. At PAWS he constantly paces and jumps up at his pen door, which makes people think that he is aggressive and puts them off even stopping to look at him... but he isn't aggressive at all, he is simply totally stressed out because he hates being in a pen and needs to be in a home where he can be with people.
We think he is possibly a Boxer X and as such needs exercise and to be occupied. Boxer dogs are considered a good dog for families, especially those with an active lifestyle. We are looking for the right environment and right people for Torro.
Comments from our volunteers who help care for Torro:
Torro is a beautiful, loving lad. He loves people and loves attention. He desperately needs his own home because he is quite frustrated. He would happily accept training because it means attention. Everyone loves him to bits.
Torro is a handsome, loving boy, but he is frustrated; all he needs is company and exercise. He loves hugs and to be around humans; once you are in his pen with him he won't let you go easily and once you are out he shows his frustration by jumping against the door. He is very strong but now walks well without pulling using a harness rather than a collar. He is a strong, healthy dog and needs people who can handle a strong active dog. He will be good for a sporty owner to enjoy jogging with. I am sure that he will be a great companion and loyal dog.
Torro is the bestest boy ever! So lovely and friendly. He absolutely loves cuddles and is so happy to see everyone. Despite his size and strength he actually walks really nicely on a harness; he will walk to heel with a loose leash if there are no other dogs around. If he sees other people, he does pull a bit but only because he wants to go over and say ‘Hi’ and give them hugs. He is best friends with the dogs in the adjoining pens and he always gives them kisses through the fence when he returns from a walk! He loves when you throw a tennis ball for him and he will retrieve it to you (although not always give it back straight away!) He sits on command and patiently waits for his breakfast. If I didn’t have 3 frail old ladies at home I would have adopted him by now! Love him!
If you have the time and patience to give TORRO what he needs then please consider him. To find out more about him, please email colleenatpaws@outlook.com, or send PAWS a private Facebook message (please include your email address in the message), or come to the shelter to meet him.
