Dixie was living on a local industrial estate with several other dogs; he was probably even born there!

A PAWS volunteer and a couple of people who worked on the estate were feeding the dogs regularly but having little success in getting close enough to catch them. PAWS made several attempts but were never successful. It reached the point where a local factory owner put up a notice saying 'Please don't steal the dogs'!  Well, we couldn't leave them to their own devices much longer because we were sure that one day they would be squished by one of the many HGV's on the estate. So, a plan was hatched and on second attempt worked. The dogs were all trapped and transported to the shelter.

After 3 years at the shelter Dixie is still VERY timid and nervous and avoids human touch. We have seen the same behaviour in so many other dogs and with persistence and determination on our part, we are sure that Dixie will get braver as time goes on.

Dogs like Dixie ideally need to be in a home with one-to-one attention all day, every day. Having that time and patience is the only way to bring them out of their shell.
