Priya came to PAWS from a shelter that had to relocate. She is a resilient and affectionate dog who, we think, has endured a challenging past as a hunting dog. Her experiences have shaped her behaviour; she approaches her food with urgency and eagerness, suggesting that she has had to fight for every meal throughout her life. This instinct reflects her background of being part of a pack, where food was scarce and competition was fierce. We are trying to teach her that she now gets a dish of food all to herself and she no longer has to fight for scraps.
Beyond her desperation for food, Priya is a charming girl who really wants to be loved. She seeks out attention and companionship, often approaching the wire fence of her pen whenever someone walks by, clearly yearning for attention and affection. It would take a hard heart to deny her a few kind words and a few minutes of attention.
Priya requires a patient and kind owner who can help her transition from her past. She needs someone willing to invest time in her training and offer consistent care, as five years of neglect cannot be overcome overnight. With the right support, Priya has the potential to become a loyal and loving companion.
